Smith Center Ministerial Association Donation

Midway Co-op Association, Inc. in conjunction with Land O’Lakes donated a total of $4,000 to the First Presbyterian Church Food Pantry to assist the Smith County Ministerial Association.  Midway Coop donated $2,000 and Land O’Lakes matched it for a total of $4,000!  The donations are for families in need in Smith County.  The food pantry supplies nonperishable food items to families in need.
Land O’Lakes is a regional cooperative that matches dollar-for-dollar cash donations from its local cooperative members like Midway Co-op.  Pictured left to right is: Ron Attwood (Ministerial Association) and Stan Herredsberg (Midway Coop Lebanon Elevator Manager).

Anaplasmosis, a blood-borne bacterial disease primarily transmitted by ticks and needles, has been spreading in Kansas for years, causing severe red blood cell loss and death in adult cattle. A newer threat, Theileria orientalis, a protozoan parasite spread by the invasive Asian Longhorned tick, has no treatment and requires rigorous parasite control and blood transmission protocols to mitigate its impact.
